Microsoft China “accidentally” teases “Windows 9”
When a new products or an update is in work, only way for users to know about it is leak until the company itself confirms and sometimes leaks reveal facts. Well, Microsoft has “accidentally” mentioned its upcoming OS in its Weibo account. The account made a teaser post with “Windows 9” and quickly took it down but not before Chinese site Cnbeta found it.
So what is the big deal here?. Nothing, but this is the first time the company has ever mentioned its upcoming OS’ name. The next Windows release has been known as “Windows Threshold” so far. Rumors already suggested it would be called Windows 9, so this is not at all a surprise. However, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out its name as Windows 9.
The post also indicates a bit about upcoming features such as return of the Start Menu, which Windows 8 users all over the world have been craving for. The new Start Menu will be hybrid of both model, means the feature should offer both experiences, Metro UI and pinning while fulfilling what it is meant to be for desktop users.
Microsoft is expected to hold an event on September 30th and the event should detail more about upcoming Windows 9. It should also release Technology Preview of the OS for developers and enterprise users. It seems like the Windows 8 is the new Vista and the company doesn’t want to associate the new OS with it.
