AT&T Asus Padfone X mini Release Date, specs and price

Asus has several Padfone devices but for the company, it is not an easy task to cross the sea with the device so it takes pretty long time when it hits the US. Well one finally has made its way to the coast , thanks to AT&T for offering the device. The company actually started offering Padfone X with 9-inch tablet dock  a while ago and now the carrier has additional one for those who want the Padfone with even smaller screen and dock.

The hybrid smartphone/tablet is dubbed Padfone X mini and comes with 4.5-inch display and 7-inch tablet dock. AT&T will start selling the Padfone X mini starting October 24 and price for the device $200. The device with tablet dock is priced off contract and you can use them AT&T’s GoPhone pre-paid mobile service.

In terms of specs, the device may no be the high-end device out there or one you can buy for the price. However, the smartphone and tablet dock offer decent features and even LTE support.

The smartphone is powered by  an Intel Atom Z2560 Clover Trail+ processor, 1GB of RAM, up to 64GB of storage and thanks to microSD card slot, you are not stuck with the storage.

The mobile phone packs a 4.5 inch, 854 x 480 pixel IPS display, a 5MP rear shooter, and a 2MP front-facing camera. The phone alone packs a 2060mAh battery that AT&T claims to offer up to 15.8 hours of battery life.

The docking station has a 7 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel IPS+ screen and a 1MP front-facing camera that is because the front-facing camera on the phone will not be accessible when it is in the dock. And the tablet dock has a 2200mAh battery  and with the phone and dock together you should get up to 28.3 hours of battery life.

In the connectivity department, the PadFone X mini has 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and Bluetooth as well as 4G LTE.

Asus Padfone X mini runs on Android software with the Asus ZenUI atop.

And if you wonder why people would buy this device, Well the advantage of the phone with tablet dock is that you no longer need to sync  your data between devices or pay extra for tethering as the tablet dock completely relies on the phone, no matter how you use the device, as phone or tablet.
