Samsung Chromebook 2 XE500C12-K01 up for Pre-order; Specs and Price

Samsung has added a new chromebook to its portfolio. The laptop running Chrome OS comes with an Intel Celeron N2840 Bay Trail processor. Recently there was rumor that the company was working on Bay Trail CPU notebook  and by unveiling the new Chromebook, consumers are getting yet another Bay Trail machine running Chrome OS.

The new machine is dubbed Samsung Chromebook 2 XE500C12-K01  and like its ARM counterpart, the new Chromebook 2 features a sort of stitched leather padding on the lid. Samsung says the system features reinforced corners for drop protection,  and also has ports protected by metal, and a metal frame around the display.

Internal specs include an 11.6 inch display, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. It is priced at $250, making it cheaper than an ARM-based device. Samsung charges $300 and up for a Chromebook 2 with an Exynos 5 Octa processor.

The new Samsung Chromebook 2 XE500C12-K01US is powered by Intel’s 2.58 GHz dual-core processor and has a 1366 x 768 pixel display, stereo speakers, and up to 9 hours of battery life.

The machine measures 11.4″ x 8.6″ x 0.66″ and weighs 2.65 pounds. The new Chromebook 2 has a fanless design that will offer a silent operation. For connectivity, there is 802.11ac WiFi apart from other usual connectivity features.

The new Chromebook is coming with exclusive “get help” button making the device stand out from the crowd. With the button, you can get support from one of the Samsung’s representative over the internet. That is kinda Samsung’ response to  Amazon’s Mayday button found on Fire tablets. The button can come handy for those who are new to Chrome OS or notebooks in general.

Release date of the Samsung Chromebook 2 is set to October 20th and you can pre-order the device right now at Amazon for lesser price at $249.99.
