2016 Sony Xperia lineups include Z6 Lite with Snapdragon 652 SoC; to release in May
Ever since Sony introduced Xperia Z5, Sony has secured a fair share of Android market and fans across the glob have looked for its future versions and features. There have already been rumors whirling around the fans about 2016 Xperia Z6 models for a while but as rumors, naturally details on the device are contradicting.
Early leaks predicted a total of five models, including a 4-inch Z6 Mini, 4.6-inch Xperia Z6 Compact, 5.2-inch Z6, 5.8-inch Xperia Z6 Plus and a 6.4-inch Xperia Z6 Ultra but a roadmap from T-Mobile didn’t include the a Z6 Mini, bringing the number of the devices down to 4.
In terms of specs, two of the devices are expected to pack a Snapdragon 820 and the other powered by Snapdragon 652 SoC (known as Snapdragon 620). However, a Chinese source has added another twist to the rumors. With the new info, there will be a model called Xperia Z6 Lite.
Mobile-dad says the device will have a 5.0-inch display and pack Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 SoC ( also known as the Snapdragon 618). The source also revealed the pricing and release date for the smartphone. According to the source, the device will carry a suggested price tag of $385 and release date is somewhere in May 2016.
Considering the display size of Z5 Lite, the device stands between the Z6 Compact and basic Z6 and should be a mid-end smartphone in terms of specs. Here the strategy of the company seems to give more options for its customers within the brand thus to attract more market share. Anyway, so far there is no details which of the markets these devices will go on sale.
