SMACH Z Handheld Gaming PC; Nearly $1 Million Kickstarter campaign begins
Are you a hardcore PC gamer and ever wondered if you could have such full fledged PC gaming experience on the go? Well now you can with Smach Z, basically a handheld gaming PC packed into a casing of smartphone size. And if you are interested in this device you can fund the project launched on Kickstarter.
The device was first unveiled as the SteamBoy back in 2014 and now the developers behind Smach Zero is hoping to raise $1 million via Kickstarter campaign and if everything goes as planned the company will start shipping the device in October 2016.
In terms of specs, the Smach Z is powered by an AMD G-Series chip coupled with Radeon graphics and 2GB of dedicated memory for graphics. The handheld gaming PC has 5-inch touchscreen and supports up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage.
The device at the beginning will only be offered with a 1280 x 720 pixel display but if the funding meets the initial goal the device will get even more interesting with a 1920 x 1080 pixel display.
For connectivity, the Smach Z gaming handheld has HDMI, 5 GHz WiFi, Bluetooth, and even a USB 3.0 Type-C port.
The company will offer two models, an entry-level with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and Smach Z Pro with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The pro model also boasts a front-facing camera and 4G support. And if the initial crowdfunding goal is met as expected, entry-level device will be offered with 64GB of storage instead of 32GB.
Powering the whole package is a battery that lasts up to 5 hours but you can apply for a spare battery via some Kickstarter pledge levels, which should then double your gaming time o nth device.
It will take nearly a year before the actual device is shipped unless you spend more than $3000 to get one of the few industrial prototypes expected to ship in May 2016 and we can’t predict the state of Steam OS when the Z Pro version ships.
