OxygenOS 2.1.4 ROM for the OnePlus One releases; Instructions in Tow
OnePlus team is determined to keep its customers and fans across the world satisfied with its devices. Ever since the legendary OnePlus One was first introduced, the company has gained a huge Android market share despite its invitation policy and the company has already launched couple of its next-gen devices including OnePlus Two and OnePlus X for even affordable price. And both latter versions come with its latest OxygenOS. It seems that the company wants to offer the taste of its OxygenOS for its original smartphone users.
Even though the company has already established its products in the smartphone world with high-end specs at affordable price, it is reaffirming its love for its original device with the release of the new version of OxygenOS. And it definitely makes sense to give its original smartphone users a taste of the home-brew experience with its latest OS, despite hundreds of other custom ROMs or even its original Cyanogen OS.
The new version of the OxygenOS for OnePlus One is build 2.1.4. However, the catch is the ROM should be flashed manually onto the device. It will not be delivered via OTA as the ROM comes in a complete package of a bootloader, recovery and the Android image itself. The problem with that is it completely wipes out device storage. According to reports, a lot of users have expressed their concern regarding the stock recovery that whether it can be replaced with a custom one after the flash.
The company has however provided extensive guide on how to get it done successfully. Anyway, be warned that the experience of the new OS is not identical to the one on OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X. The company had to strip away MaxxAudio’s proprietary sound technology and apps.
The company also warns against side-loading the ROM through TWRP, that could potentially work though. According to some users experience, there is also a glitch under OxygenOS 2.1.4 which prevent the phone from charging. So make sure you are not going to regret before you go ahead with the process.
