Microsoft launches Surface Go, the most Powerful Small Surface to Date; Specs And Price

Microsoft Surface Specs and Price-First Look and Preview

Microsoft’s new Surface Go is smaller and cheaper alternative to its Surface Pro. Definitely, that is not without some compromises, but pretty impressive thing about the Surface Go is it adds productivity on the go which many other tablets out there including iPad can’t offer.

Yes, it means you can switch to the full version of Windows 10 Home for free, it will come with Windows 10 Home in S Mode though. The new Surface Go will go on pre-order starting July 10th and will go on sale starting August 2nd. The tab is priced at $399 and up depending on the specs under the hood.

Design-wise, the Go is the same as Surface Pro, with a built-in kickstand and a hinge that supports angle up to 16 degrees.

The Surface Go is the most powerful small Surface tablet to date and comes with a 6 watt dual-core processor based on 7th-gen Intel Core “Kaby Lake” CPU. The tab supports up to 8 Gigabytes of RAM and up to 256 Gigabytes of storage.

Though the tablet is powered by a dual-core 1.6 GHz processor, that is the compromise the company had to make between Intel’s Core M and Celeron. And you are getting modern Surface in the most portable package.

As you would expect, the model offers all the external accessories like Type Cover and Surface Pen, both will have to be bought separately though. The Surface Pen has 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity and it is priced at $99.

Moreover, it is the first Surface tablet to feature a USB 3.1 Type-C connector in addition to a Surface Connect port. The charger that ships with the tablet uses Surface Connect port while the Type-C connector can be used for storage, peripherals, or connecting an external display. Of course, you can use Type-C port to charge the tablet too if you have USB-C charger.

Other ports include a microSD card reader and a headphone jack. And there is also an 8MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera, and an IR camera with support for Windows Hello face recognition.

The tablet measures 9.6″ by 6.9″ by 0.3″ and weighs 1.15 pounds
